ReRa Solutions, well-known solar cell measurement specialist, has just introduced a unique product: Multi-junction ISO type Reference Cell.
Component cells or ISO-type cells are used to determine the spectral content of the solar irradiation or for tuning / verification of multi-source solar simulators when spectro-radiometers are not fast or accurate enough.
The ReRa Multi-junction ISO type Reference Cell houses 4 single cells with an active area of 1 cm2 arranged to form a square (2.2 x 2.2 cm2). Two LEMO connectors provide the signals (triple junction, 3 component cells and RTD sensor). All four cells are connected using a 4-wire connection.
The triple junction InGaP/InGaAs/Ge solar cell and sub component (Top, Middle and Bottom) cells are manufactured on germanium substrates. The silver based finger pattern is laid on the active area by photolithography.
The four cells are composed as follows:
- TJ: InGaP/InGaAs/Ge
- TOP InGap/Ge with active Germanium subcell
- MIDDLE InGaAs/Ge with active Germanium subcell
- BOTTOM Ge
Two 6mm connectors are available to provide active cooling by a temperature controlled water bath. The bare cells are covered by a quartz window that can be taken off using 8 screws.

7th International Spectroradiometer Intercomparison
/in News/by Claudia HaenenAlso this year, ReRa Solutions is co-organizer of the International Spectroradiometer Intercomparison. The annual ntercomparison gets together top European research laboratories for checking and comparing their primary instruments for broadband and spectral solar irradiance measurements. This year the 7th International Spectroradiometer Intercomparison will be held from 12-16 June 2017 at the ENEL Green Power site in Catania (Sicily, Italy). This event is yearly organized by the European Joint Research Center (JRC).

ReRa receives EU funding for BES project
/in News/by Claudia HaenenBeing partner in the BES (Betuwse Energy Samenwerking) project, ReRa Solutions has received funding from the European Union.
The goal of this project is to make a part of the Betuwe region energy neutral by integrating all available renewable energy sources in the region.
Within this project, ReRa Solutions will develop a low cost radiance sensor. With this sensor, the actual performance of solar installations can be monitored.
ReRa Solutions will cooperate with the Radboud University Nijmegen, Munity Services, Energie Dienstenbedrijf Rivierenland, Energiepartners and Benning.
ReRa Solutions and Solliance present a new analysis system for solar cells and modules
/in News/by Claudia HaenenSolar cell and module analysis
Solar cells and modules are often characterized by ‘current voltage’ measurements, which are currently executed with multifunctional analysis equipment. These tools can place voltages on samples, for short, but also for longer periods, and analyze the output current. However, the existing tools (“Keithley Source-meters”) are relatively expensive and only allow the use for one solar cell or module at the time.
Within the TKI iDEEGO project TRUST, ReRa Solutions has developed and built a new type of electrical load, which allows both long and short term exposure to external voltages. The capabilities of this load have been studied and presented by Solliance in Eindhoven.

Installation first ReRa Monitoring tower at Solarpark Nijmegen
/in News/by Claudia HaenenLast week ReRa Solutions has installed her first ReRa Monitoring Tower at the new Solar Park Nijmegen (ENGIE).
The Monitoring Tower is a sophisticated monitoring unit to be used for solar parks to determine the actual Performance Ratio of solar panels. With this ratio, it can be determined if the solar panels are working correctly.
ReRa Solutions has received funding from Power2Nijmegen. Solar Park Nijmegen will be launching customer for testing the monitoring tower in practice.
